Trinity High School Application Procedure

School Visit

All families are encouraged to tour the school and talk with the Director of Admission, the Director of School, or the Headmaster (refer to admission schedule for open houses).

Application

Trinity will begin accepting applications for the 2006–07 academic year July 1, 2005. An Application for Admission should be completed and returned with a nonrefundable application fee of $55 (refer to admission schedule for deadlines).

Birth Certificate

A copy of the student’s birth certificate must be submitted with the application.

Questionnaire

Applicants for Grade 9 are required to complete a questionnaire and submit it with the application.

References

Two references are required. One must be completed by the current or most recent Language Arts teacher, and the second must be completed by the current or most recent Mathematics teacher. Completed forms should be mailed directly to the Admission Office by the person completing the reference. This ensures confidentiality.

Transcript

The Transcript Release Form should be signed and delivered to the office of the applicant’s current or most recent school. A copy of the student’s records, including grades and standardized achievement test scores (if any), should be mailed by that school directly to Trinity School.

Assessment

An assessment of academic aptitude is required for all applicants. For some students, the school may require additional testing.

• Applicants for Grade 9 are asked to take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE). Trinity School will serve as an ISEE test site February 11, 2006, and parents must register with the ISEE Operations Office before January 21, 2006.

• Parents may register for the ISEE by mail, phone (1-800-446-0320), or fax (1-919-682-5775), or online at www.iseetest.org. Additional test sites may be found on the website or in the ISEE registration booklet (available at Trinity School). ISEE practice tests are available online at www.testprepreview.com.

Classroom Visit & Interview

Applicants for Grade 9 are required to spend one morning visiting our classes, followed by an interview with the Director of Admission, the Director of Upper School, or a member of the faculty. Classroom visits are scheduled by the Admission Office.

Decisions

Admission decisions are made when the entire application process is complete (i.e., all required documents have been received in the Admission Office and the appropriate assessments have been completed). Once an applicant’s file is complete, the file is reviewed by the Admission committee, overseen by the Director of Admission. The Admission committee makes a recommendation to the Headmaster on each student.

Notification

Applicants who have completed the application process (i.e., admission and financial aid applications, questionnaire, school transcripts, references, ISEE exam, and classroom visit) by December 16, 2005, will be notified of an admission decision by mail January 13, 2006.

Applicants who complete the application process after December 16, 2005, will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and notified of their status as soon as possible according to available vacancies.
