Students Applying for Grades 5–12
Register for and take the ISEE exam. Applicants for grades 5–12 must take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). Parents sign up for the ISEE directly with the ISEE Operations Office and must register at least 21 days prior to the exam. To meet Trinity's priority deadline, the applicant must take the ISEE on or before February 10, 2018. Trinity School is an ISEE test administration site and will administer the exam on February 10. Other schools in the Triangle area, as well as cities throughout the US and abroad, also serve as ISEE test sites. Applicants can take the exam at any ISEE test site. Applicants may register for the ISEE by phone (1-800-446-0320), fax (1-919-682-5775), or internet (www.iseetest.org).
Test preparation books are available on the ISEE website. Each book includes specific background information about the ISEE test and experience, sample questions, a full-length practice test, scoring information, and a section on understanding the Individual Student Report (ISR) that will be received after testing.
A Trinity School education is an investment. We know that families make sacrifices to send their children to Trinity. Even with such sacrifices, some families are not able to afford a Trinity education. We are pleased to offer a flexible tuition rate for families who qualify. Flexible tuition is a need-based tuition arrangement similar to those used by many private schools, colleges, and universities. It allows families to apply for reduced tuition, in contrast to applying for a grant or award.
The flexible tuition program supports our commitment to making a Trinity education accessible to families from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. Approximately 25% of our current families pay tuition below the top of the rates. Every family’s financial situation is different. We invite those who believe that the full cost of a Trinity education would be unsustainable to apply for flexible tuition.
Tuition ranges for 2017–2018
- Transitional Kindergarten–Kindergarten | $5,680–$11,360
- Grades 1–5 | $7,750–$15,500
- Grades 6–8 | $8,595–$17,190
- Grades 9–12 | $10,375–$20,750
Flexible tuition rates are based on a need analysis that takes into account each family's unique financial circumstances. Flexible tuition is need-based. We determine each family’s contribution through objective information submitted through TADS, a third-party service, in much the same way as do other private schools, colleges, and universities.
