After-School Programs
We welcome students on campus after school. We want Trinity to be a neighborhood and a place of community. But as the school has grown, it has become more difficult and less safe to let students wander about, unsupervised. Trinity's two after-school programs provide safe, mission-appropriate supervision for the students who participate. Let me remind all parents that if your children are not participating in these programs and they are on campus after school, they must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible and attentive. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation in this matter.
Chip Denton, Headmaster
Trinity Neighborhood (Grades TK–5)
The Trinity Neighborhood program supports the school's mission by offering care for Trinity students whose parents need assistance from school dismissal until 5:30 p.m. We founded this program in order to support the families who must work jobs that are not flexible enough to allow them to pick up their children at the usual dismissal times. Trinity Neighborhood reinforces our school's Christian mission, and it honors our commitment to unhurried education, leaving children much time for unstructured play and opportunities to extend their learning informally after school. Students who are engaged in clubs and other activities after school are able to go to and from the Neighborhood.
The program, located in the back of the first modular building, serves Trinity students in grades TK–5. It includes snack time, supervised unstructured play, homework time, and a wonderfully unhurried experience with books and things. We give priority to families who can utilize the program for five days. Admission is granted to Trinity families on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please download the Trinity Neighborhood registration form and submit the completed form to the Trinity Business Office.
Trinity Lions on Campus (Grades 6–8)
Trinity seeks to be a safe, student-friendly community before, during, and after school. All students in grades 6–8 who remain on campus after regular school hours are required to be under adult supervision. Trinity Lions on Campus (TLC), offered through the Middle School, provides supervision, a snack, a place to relax, and a homework-conducive environment for Trinity students in grades 6–8 who remain on campus after 3:00 p.m. during the school year. Its primary location is the mezzanine above the Blue Gym, except during basketball season, when it is held in the South Building.
TLC is available 3:00–5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday on days when school is in session. It is not offered on early dismissal days. Unless remaining on campus for a supervised activity such as tutoring or a club, or under the direct supervision of a parent or other designated adult, sixth graders must sign in at TLC by 3:00 p.m., and seventh and eighth graders must sign in by 3:20 p.m. Middle Schoolers who are unsupervised after 3:20 p.m. are sent to TLC, and their parents are notified for pick-up and billing purposes.
TLC students are welcome to attend on-campus athletic events if they sign out with their TLC teacher and remain in the agreed-upon area until they return to TLC. Please direct TLC questions to Mason Goss at mgoss@trinityschoolnc.org.
Cost
Parents may opt to enroll their student in TLC for the fall, winter, or spring seasons, or for any combination of these portions of the year. The fees are as follows:
Fall 8/21–11/15 $200 per student
Winter 11/18–2/14 $200 per student
Spring 2/17–5/30 $200 per student
All Year 8/21–5/30 $500 per student (if paid by 9/30/13)*
*If you would like your student to attend TLC all year and you pay for all three seasons by September 30, you will receive a $100 discount, making the total fee $500 per student.
Enrollment
You may enroll your student(s) by filling out the TLC information and registration form and returning it to the South Building reception desk. Please DO NOT attach payment. The Trinity Business Office will bill you for TLC charges.
Occasional “Drop In” Use of TLC
TLC has a “Drop-In” option for those who need TLC only occasionally. The drop-in fee is $10 daily or $25 weekly and is billed through the Business Office.
