As spring is upon us and as I begin my tenure at Trinity School, I would like to take this opportunity to discuss my role and provide some insight into how you can get involved in the life of our school.
"What does that mean exactly, 'Director of Advancement'?" asked my wife Leah, candidly as the kids were finally asleep after a row of thunderstorms came through Durham, and she had a moment to read over this letter. "You're directing the advancement of Trinity. You're trying to advance Trinity, but to where or to what point? People need to know that first so they know how to help." So here I am, conceding to my wife's wisdom, and letting you know how we can work together to provide the very best education for our children.
As the Director of Advancement, my role is to connect, engage, and facilitate opportunities for the Trinity community. Connecting with you, and learning how the school can best partner with our families is vital. Listening to your story, why you chose Trinity, and what we can do as a community to improve the course of our Non Nobis mission is important. I would love to hear from you, and I encourage you to please reach out and share your story.
Personally, my story is that my wife and I wanted to pursue an environment for our children that included a rigorous academic curriculum coupled with uncompromising Christian values. Spending the past 18 years traveling the world, I was afforded the opportunity to visit hundreds of schools and learn from my travels. When I stepped onto Trinity's campus this past fall, met the teachers, staff, administrators, and Dr. Denton, I fell in love with Trinity. My wife and I prayed and waited to see if God would open the door for our family. Thankfully he did, and we are so blessed to join this community.
Our advancement team is committed to involving Trinity parents in the school's daily life, annual fundraising projects, and valuable thinking around a clear vision for our future. We accomplish these efforts by providing platforms for you to share your time, social networks, finances and expertise. I encourage you to please feel free to send me an email or stop by my office in the South Building lobby. I would also appreciate an opportunity to personally discuss the Trinity Fund and the other financial endeavors Trinity has committed to this fiscal year.
Thank you for your support of Trinity School. We are grateful for your prayers, financial support, and the many ways you partner with us in helping Trinity provide a bright light to our community.
