Additional Funding Sources

There are a few opportunities for additional scholarship support in addition to flexible tuition. A family does not have to qualify for flexible tuition at Trinity School in order to apply. Please see below for more information about the criteria and application process for these scholarships, which is separate from the Clarity application.

NCSEAA Opportunity Scholarship Program

The Opportunity Scholarship Program: Did you know that Trinity School participates in the Opportunity Scholarship program, and has participated since 2014? On October 3, 2023, the North Carolina State Budget (House Bill 259) became law. The new law authorizes several changes to the State’s Opportunity Scholarship Program, which will begin with the 2024-2025 school year. Exciting changes for the 2024-2025 school year include:

  • Removal of the income cap for families to receive the scholarship. All students in North Carolina will be eligible for an Opportunity Scholarship, which can be used to assist in paying for tuition and fees at a private school, regardless of income.

  • Scholarship amounts will range from approximately $3,000 to approximately $7,000 and are paid directly to the school.
  • A student’s scholarship amount will be based on household income.
  • Prior public school enrollment is no longer a requirement for eligibility for the scholarship.

The Opportunity Scholarship application for the 2024-2025 school year will open from February 1–March 1, 2024. All Families are encouraged to apply!

The Education Student Accounts (ESA+) program is available to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Funds can be used to pay school tuition, as well as expenses such as speech therapy, tutoring services, and educational technology for families who homeschool their students. The funding is suitable for parents of students with disabilities.

The Community Scholarship for Students of Color

Trinity has aspired to be a richly diverse school that welcomes all who value a high-quality education within a thoughtful, ecumenical framework of Christian faith and conviction. Our community of learners is growing, and we want to do all we can to ensure that Trinity’s student body reflects the diversity of the greater Durham and Chapel Hill area.

We are pleased to offer the Community Scholarships for Students of Color for applicants to grades 6–11 who have strong academic records, love to learn, and desire to be fully involved in their school’s community, in addition to demonstrating high levels of integrity, character, and leadership. Each year, scholarship recipients will be awarded up to $2,500 toward tuition. Scholarship awards are renewable each year until graduation, provided that the student remains in good academic and personal standing.

If you are interested in applying for this award, your school guidance counselor or principal should submit the Community Scholarship Nomination Form no later than January 12, 2024. If you have any questions, please contact the Director of Enrollment Management, Lori Winters, at 919-402-8262, ext. 2512, or by email at lwinters@tsdch.org.
