Welcome to Trinity. It has been my joy to serve Trinity since its inception in 1995. There is a community of learning at Trinity that nourishes us all, from faculty to students to parents to the Head of School. The loss of thick communities in our American culture is commonly lamented, and I am grateful that Trinity is a place where students are known and loved, where parents help one another raise their children, and where faculty respect and enjoy their colleagues.

The thing I most want you to know about Trinity is that we are a school with a big Why. Purpose matters here. Our mission is distinctive, and it shapes everything we do. That mission is captured by Psalm 115: “Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to your name be the glory.” We teach our students (and ourselves) that the purpose of our lives and of education is to give ourselves wholly to the God who created us and redeemed us in Christ. God is first, others second, and we are third. We will, with God’s good help, get the other parts of education right—reading and math, science and the arts, athletics and STEM. But the thing that sets our school apart is this devotion to our mission.

We’d love for you to experience Trinity for yourself. Come visit us. Attend a Tour and Information Session if you are a prospective parent. Catch one of our athletic events, a Robotics tournament, a play, or a concert. Chat with some of our teachers or administrators. Call a Trinity parent. Ask around the community and see the impact that Trinity has had on Durham and Chapel Hill. I hope to see you on campus soon.
