UPPER SCHOOL

College Counseling

Trinity’s college counseling program assists all Upper School students and families as they prepare for life after Trinity. We highly encourage students to take ownership of this process and schedule regular meetings with Karman Kent, Director of College Counseling. We desire to partner with parents and families by providing clear communication about the process.

We seek to embrace a rich and unhurried approach to exploring postsecondary educational options, one that builds relationships with students over time, particularly in the junior and senior years. The ultimate goal is to encourage habits of self-exploration to direct value-based decisions in their adult lives.

To accomplish this, we commit to the following aspirations:

  • To promote the positive development of the whole person; collaborating with the school, family, and greater support systems for the student's academic, spiritual, and social growth.
  • To guide all Upper School students through the college admissions process; equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to become successful students, productive members of society, and lifelong learners.
  • To reflect an inclusive school culture that will value, affirm, and respect the differences among all members.

The Arc of a Trinity Education

Trinity’s alumni are thriving in colleges and universities across the country, and many are now working in fields such as education, finance, marketing, and banking to make a difference in their communities.

Our graduates have received over $20 million in merit awards including four Morehead-Cain Scholars and a Park Scholar finalist. Additional awards include a Fidelity Scholarship in its inaugural year, the C.P. Davis Scholars award at Columbia University, the Initiative for Students from the Carolinas at Duke University, US Naval Academy appointments, and a US Air Force Academy Appointment. Our students have earned 8 Division I athletic scholarships, 20 Governor’s School placements, and National Merit commended/semi-finalist/finalist scholarships.

The ultimate goal is to encourage habits of self-exploration to direct value-based decisions in their adult lives.
