Assistant Director of Advancement


The Assistant Director of Advancement plays a key role in supporting and enhancing the school’s fundraising and engagement strategies. This position focuses on managing the school’s advancement database, overseeing donor stewardship efforts, and strengthening alumni relations. The Assistant Director works closely with the Director of Advancement and other team members to foster meaningful relationships with donors, alumni, and the broader school community. Trinity is a highly missional school, and an understanding of and commitment to the school’s mission is essential: our mission is to educate students in transitional kindergarten to grade twelve within the framework of Christian faith and conviction—teaching the classical tools of learning; providing a rich yet unhurried curriculum; and communicating truth, goodness, and beauty. This is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Director of Advancement.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to, the following:)

Database Management (30%)

  • Maintain and manage the school’s advancement database, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and confidentiality.
  • Generate reports and analyze data to inform fundraising strategies and evaluate campaign performance.
  • Manage gift entry, acknowledgments, and data tracking to support fundraising campaigns and annual giving initiatives.
  • Support the staff in proper database usage and reporting functions.

Donor Stewardship (30%)

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive donor stewardship program to engage and retain donors.
  • Synthesize information from a variety of sources to develop prospect research reports as needed throughout the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship cycle.
  • Organize events and initiatives to thank donors. 
  • Draft and coordinate personalized acknowledgment letters, impact reports, and recognition materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, preferences, and gift history.

Alumni Relations (25%)

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive alumni relations program in conjunction with the Director of Advancement to engage and retain donors.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for alumni, fostering strong relationships and keeping them engaged with the school.
  • Plan and execute alumni events, including reunions, networking events, and regional gatherings.
  • Maintain and update alumni contact information and communication preferences.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications staff to develop alumni newsletters and social media content.

General Advancement Support (15%)

  • Assist with the planning and execution of major fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Support solicitations and other appeals through data pulls, mailings, and donor communications.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and parent volunteers to promote advancement initiatives.
  • Represent the Advancement Office at school events and community functions.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or certification in fundraising, nonprofit management, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of professional experience required; experience in development, advancement services, or nonprofit fundraising in an independent school or educational setting preferred. 
  • Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with diverse constituencies.
  • Proficiency in advancement databases; knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or similar platforms strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines with strong attention to detail.
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.
  • Availability and flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
