Campus Safety Officer
Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill seeks a Campus Safety Officer.
The Campus Safety Officer is responsible for supporting a safe, secure, and orderly school environment through static post duties, monitoring, reporting, and traffic operations support. This position focuses on observing, documenting, and reporting concerns to the Safety & Security Department. Officers also assist with safety-related projects and routine operational support. This position is designed to be collaborative with the other members of the Safety & Security team who are all expected to undergo ongoing training and demonstrate commitment to the school’s safety goals.
Responsibilities- include but are not limited to:
- Maintain a visible and professional presence at assigned static posts throughout the campus.
- Monitor designated areas and report unusual behavior, safety hazards, or policy violations to the Security Supervisor or Safety & Security Department.
- Support the safe and efficient flow of traffic on campus during student drop-off, pick-up, and special events.
- Observe campus activities and assist with documentation related to incidents or security concerns.
- Monitor security cameras and assist with access control functions.
- Assist with the implementation and tracking of safety-related projects or improvements.
- Serve as a courteous and informed presence to students, parents, and visitors; provide directions and ensure visitors check in appropriately.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with students, faculty, and community members while modeling professionalism and approachability.
- Participate in campus drills and support preparedness activities (e.g., evacuation, shelter, lockdown).
- Attend training sessions, workshops, and professional development activities as assigned.
- Protect confidentiality and uphold the integrity and values of Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill
- Performs all other moral and ethical duties that are assigned.
Qualifications
- A deep and abiding faith in Christ and a commitment to Christian principles.
- Consistent prayer life and engagement with Scripture.
- Approachable, respectful, and service-oriented demeanor.
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to receive training and grow within the Safety & Security team.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred: Previous experience in school security.
- Required: Must successfully obtain and maintain all applicable NCPPSB armed guard registration, firearms training, and qualification requirements necessary for armed-duty status.
- Required: Valid permit to carry concealed weapon or meets requirements pursuant to NC G.S. 14-415.11
- Required: Must fulfill all LEOSA/HR218 eligibility criteria, hold proper law enforcement identification, and maintain continuous annual qualification and certification requirements.
Certification/License
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license required.
- A valid HR218 card is required.
Terms of Employment

Full-time, on-campus presence required unless otherwise authorized.

General schedule is 7:00a-4:00p Monday-Friday on school days during the school year.

Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends during events.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and verification of employment.

As a condition of employment, the Campus Safety Officer must successfully complete and maintain all applicable NCPPSB armed guard registration, firearms training, and qualification requirements, and must satisfy Trinity School’s Armed Qualification Standard, including all required annual qualification and readiness components.
