Campus Safety Officer Level 1
Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill seeks a Campus Safety Officer.
Under general direction, the Campus Safety Officer, Level 1 is responsible for supporting a safe,
secure, and orderly school environment through static post duties, monitoring, reporting, and traffic
operations support. This entry-level position does not involve direct intervention in dangerous or life-
threatening situations but focuses on observing, documenting, and reporting concerns to the Safety &
Security Department. Officers also assist with safety-related projects and routine operational support.
This position is designed as an entry point into the Safety & Security team. Advancement is expected
hrough ongoing training and demonstrated commitment to the school’s safety goals.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Maintain a visible and professional presence at assigned static posts throughout the campus.

Monitor designated areas and report unusual behavior, safety hazards, or policy violations to the
Security Supervisor or Safety & Security Department. -
Support the safe and efficient flow of traffic on campus during student drop-off, pick-up, and
special events. -
Observe campus activities and assist with documentation related to incidents or security concerns. Monitor security cameras and assist with access control functions.

Assist with the implementation and tracking of safety-related projects or improvements under the direction of the Safety & Security Director.

Serve as a courteous and informed presence to students, parents, and visitors; provide directions
and ensure visitors check in appropriately. -
Build positive, respectful relationships with students, faculty, and community members while modeling professionalism and approachability.

Participate in campus drills and support preparedness activities (e.g., fire, tornado, lockdown).

Attend training sessions, workshops, and professional development activities as assigned.

Protect confidentiality and uphold the integrity and values of Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill.

Performs all other moral and ethical duties that are assigned.
Qualifications
- A deep and abiding faith in Christ and a commitment to Christian principles.
- Approachable, respectful, and service-oriented demeanor.
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to receive training and grow within the Safety & Security team.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in school security, military, first responder, or traffic control operations preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with or ability to learn Microsoft Office and security-related platforms.
Certification/License

Valid North Carolina driver’s license required.

CPR / AED Certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days of employment).

No law enforcement certification is required for this position.
Advancement and Expectations
This role is the foundation of a progressive track within the Safety & Security Department. Candidates
must demonstrate a willingness to undergo additional training to qualify for higher levels of responsibility,
including intervention roles or supervisory positions.
Terms of Employment

Full-time, on-campus presence required unless otherwise authorized.

Schedule set by the Director of Safety & Security.

Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends during events.

Reports directly to the Assistant Director and Director of Safety & Security.
