Service Learning

Service to others is a natural expression of the Christian life. Trinity School students are encouraged to be an active and visible presence in serving the communities of Durham and Chapel Hill. Students of all ages participate in service projects, fundraisers, and service-learning opportunities throughout their years at Trinity.

Upper School students have the opportunity to take service-learning courses in which they examine complex issues such as hunger, homelessness, and illiteracy. These courses, which feature significant service components in our local community, currently feature Literacy and the Augustine Project and Servant-Leadership: Serving Durham's Needy. A variety of noncredit service projects are also open to our Upper School students.

Trinity sponsors a number of school-wide service opportunities each year in which many of our Upper Schools take on leadership roles, including the Run for Mukhanyo, a fundraiser for Mukhanyo Christian Academy, a school in South Africa. Each of Trinity’s athletic teams participates in a service project chosen by the students.
